Situation Will Not Stabilize but Deteriorate: Zakharova
The situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program and, more broadly, the situation in the Middle East is deteriorating due to the West's destructive stance, stated Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, according to RIA Novosti.
“The situation prevailing in the Middle East, particularly with regard to Iran's nuclear program, has been a focus of international attention for years. Unfortunately, the situation is not stabilizing; it is worsening due to the West's unconstructive position,” said Zakharova.
She noted that US President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed concern regarding Iran's nuclear program, indicating that Tehran is close to developing nuclear weapons, and that the US intends to prevent this.
It should be added that representatives of Iran's executive branch have stated, despite calls from several lawmakers to acquire nuclear support measures, that Tehran does not plan to develop nuclear weapons.
