Ukraine War Awakened Many People: Rubio

At the NATO summit in The Hague, Washington expects an increase in commitments from partners within the military alliance. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on his social media page.

“First, the war in Ukraine has awakened many people on this continent to the real threats and the realities of war. The second reason, I believe, is the pressures and statements from President Trump. We hope that when the leaders meet in The Hague, they will adopt stronger commitments in this direction,” he wrote.

It is noteworthy that U.S. President Donald Trump had previously stated that he doubts the willingness of NATO member countries to defend the U.S. if necessary. He mentioned that NATO member countries have frequently let the U.S. down in the past. “Before I took office, the country was paying almost 100 percent for defense, while they were cheating us in trade,” the President declared.
