Aleksanyan Recognized as Europe’s Best Greco-Roman Wrestler

The European Council of the World Wrestling Federation has recognized Olympic champion, multiple medalist, four-time world champion, seven-time European champion, and legendary Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan as the best Greco-Roman wrestler of the year in Europe.

The title of Europe’s best Greco-Roman coach has been awarded to Armen Babalyan, a master of sports of international class from the USSR, a distinguished coach of Armenia, and the chief coach of the Armenian national Greco-Roman wrestling team.

The Armenian Wrestling Federation congratulates Artur Aleksanyan and Armen Babalyan. “This once again emphasizes the role and place of Armenian wrestling on the global sports map. We also thank the European Council of the World Wrestling Federation for properly recognizing the efforts of our athlete and coach,” the statement reads.
