Paris and London Against Trump's Tariffs

French President Emmanuel Macron discussed measures in response to Washington's new tariffs with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as reported by TASS.

“In light of the impact of U.S. tariffs... we reaffirmed our willingness to closely coordinate our positions during negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump,” Macron wrote on his X page, following a conversation with the British government leader. “A trade war does not serve the interests of either party.”

According to him, the issue of supporting Ukraine was also discussed. “We continue to consider providing long-term assistance to Ukrainians. Above all, we are ready to support the Ukrainian army, which will remain on the front lines of defense.” Moreover, the French president stated that the potential formation of a deterrent unit, which would be deployed away from the frontline, was also discussed during his conversation with Starmer.
