New Agreement Between Azerbaijan, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Georgia

Azerbaijan, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Georgia have signed an agreement within the framework of a project for the modernization of electrical transmission systems, which will enable the trade of electricity generated from renewable energy sources and improve energy security.

According to Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, upon completion of the project, transmission systems will be modernized, production infrastructures will operate more efficiently, and energy security will be enhanced.

Bayraktar noted that Turkey’s electrical transmission corporation (TEIAŞ) and Azerbaijan's largest electricity producer, Azer enerji, have signed an operational agreement to expand energy cooperation, which will ensure uninterrupted and reliable transfer of electricity between Turkey and Nakhchivan, as well as lead to the modernization of existing infrastructure and an increase in transmission capacity.
