Iran's Behavior Threatens US National Interests Worldwide, State Department

Iran's behavior poses a threat to US national interests globally, which is why President Donald Trump has resumed a maximum pressure campaign aimed at ending Iran's nuclear threat, limiting its ballistic missile program, and stopping support for terrorist organizations. This was stated by State Department spokesperson Temmi Bruce during a press briefing.

“As the President has stated, Iran can never have nuclear weapons. He has also made it clear that the United States cannot allow this to happen. As we know, the President has been willing to negotiate a deal with Iran. If the Iranian regime does not want a deal, the President has indicated that he will look for other options, which would be very bad for Iran,” the spokesperson said.

It is noteworthy that today, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran reaffirms that it will never seek, produce, or attempt to acquire nuclear weapons. He mentioned this in a post on X while responding to threats from US President Donald Trump regarding Tehran's nuclear program.

While the US President may not be interested in the 2015 nuclear agreement, that agreement contained key obligations for Iran that are still in effect, and even the US, which is not a party to the agreement, has benefitted from it.

Iran reiterates that it will never seek, produce, or attempt to acquire nuclear weapons.
