«Money Will Be Stolen, No One Will Know». Anti-Corruption Committee Releases Recording

Mariam Z.

The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has initiated criminal proceedings regarding alleged crimes related to bribery and violations of the prohibition on charity during elections. This information has been reported by the Committee, based on information received from the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Service.

According to the data obtained, an elector was offered a bribe in exchange for voting for a party in the early elections of the Shiraz city council. Additionally, there have been reports of a party member and an authorized representative in the same community providing firewood as goods to electors under the guise of charity, promising funds for the paving of streets, and buying traditional outfits and other property.

The Anti-Corruption Committee, together with the Criminal Police and the National Security Service, is taking necessary measures to clarify all circumstances of the mentioned incidents and to identify the specific individuals involved. The Committee urges all participants in the electoral process to exhibit responsible behavior, refrain from illegal practices that disrupt the normal electoral process, and assures that it will take appropriate actions, alongside other competent authorities, to expose and neutralize similar corrupt acts.

At the same time, the Committee expects cooperation from citizens interested in conducting free and transparent elections with law enforcement bodies, including promptly reporting any information on electoral violations.
