‘It Will Be Pivotal’: Mirzoyan
The peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku will be pivotal, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated in Astana. This was reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.
After prolonged negotiations, the time has come to sign the agreement and move forward towards achieving peace in the South Caucasus and opening up economic opportunities, he emphasized.
During a meeting with Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Murat Nurtlieu, Mirzoyan addressed regional issues and presented the latest developments regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Armenia’s position is clear: recognition of the territorial integrity of both states and carrying out the delimitation process based on the provisions of the Almaty Declaration. It is also evident that it is crucial to address humanitarian issues, including clarifying the fates of the missing persons and the release of prisoners of war and detained civilians,” the Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized.
He also reminded that Kazakhstan had provided its platform for Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, and the states are united in their aspiration for independence.
In response, Murat Nurtlieu noted that Astana and Yerevan share similar views on many issues on the global agenda. “We also attach great importance to ensuring security and peace in the South Caucasus,” he said.
