The Government Must Resign: Tension in Turkey

Mass protests continue in Turkey. Participants in the marches and demonstrations are demanding the release of Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul who was removed from his position and is currently imprisoned.

"We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal," "Rights, Law, Justice," "The Government Must Resign," chanted the protesters.

During the protest in Istanbul, one activist tore apart Turkish President Erdogan's book "A More Just World is Possible" (a copy of which he had previously gifted to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan). In Eskisehir, protesters organized a symbolic funeral for Devlet Bahceli, the leader of Turkish nationalists and Erdogan's ally.

According to the opposition, nearly one million people took to the streets in Istanbul alone, despite the authorities extending the ban on gatherings in the city until March 27.
