Armenia National Team Will Do Everything to Achieve Revenge: John van ’t Schip
The visit of the Georgian national team to Yerevan for the match against the Armenia national team has set a record for the number of Georgian fans attending an away game. According to the Georgian news outlet Metronome.ge, there were nearly 3,000 Georgian fans in the stands. This level of support for the Georgian national team in away matches had not been seen before, except for European Championship matches. The previous maximum recorded was in 2022 when about 1,000 fans from Scotland attended the match against Armenia in the Nations League.
Although a separate section was allocated for Georgian fans in Yerevan, the publication noted that they could be seen throughout the stadium.
It is worth mentioning that the head coach of the Armenia national team, John van ’t Schip, stated that the team will do everything to achieve revenge against Georgia in the upcoming match. “We are prepared even now, we were quite ready in Yerevan as well, it’s just that we made three blatant mistakes that cost us three goals. Of course, the Georgian team showed more mature football in Yerevan. Now it is becoming clear about the current condition and capabilities of our players. We will do everything tomorrow to achieve revenge. But I want to emphasize once again that we need time to correct our mistakes and approach the 2026 World Cup qualification phase, which starts in September, in a significantly better way,” he said.
Forward Arthur Serobyan also highlighted that things did not go well in the Armenia-Georgia match, but they are ready for tomorrow’s encounter and have come to rectify their mistakes. He assured that they will give their maximum on the pitch to achieve a positive result.
