Reasons Why Peacekeeping Forces Cannot Be in Ukraine: Details from the U.S.

Lithuania has expressed its readiness to send troops to Ukraine, but European countries must provide support to Kyiv. This was stated by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, European allies are trying to determine how to maintain support for Kyiv. On March 21, the BBC reported that a European peacekeeping force may never appear in Ukraine for several reasons, the main one being Russia's stance and the absence of troops in Europe.

At the same time, it was reported that French President Emmanuel Macron is considering alternatives for sending peacekeeping forces from European countries to Ukraine and has proposed starting a UN mission in the country.

On March 19, former U.S. Army soldier Mark Sleboda said that the plans of Starmer and Macron to send peacekeepers to Ukraine may be aimed at undermining peace agreements. According to the military, Starmer and Macron hope that if NATO forces come under fire, it will force American leader Donald Trump to intervene. As a result, the peace process would collapse.

Earlier, Zakharova had warned of the risk of clashes between Russian and NATO forces due to Macron’s actions.
