Kopirkin on the Triangular Agreements Between Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan

The series of triangular agreements between Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan remains relevant, said Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador in Armenia, while commenting on the possibility of support from Igor Khovaev, the special representative of the Russian Foreign Minister, on the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement.

“Igor Khovaev has repeatedly been in the region and has worked quite actively in this direction. There are several triangular agreements that, in our opinion, remain relevant,” Kopirkin stated.

Earlier, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that Igor Khovaev is ready to visit the region to conduct consultations on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Commenting on reports about the expected temporary transfer of American military equipment to Armenia, the Russian ambassador drew attention to news that, according to the press, it is intended for conducting exercises. In response to Maria Zakharova's statement, the ambassador emphasized the attempts by external players to involve confrontation schemes in the South Caucasus region.

“If this happens, it is certainly a worrying moment, a factor that is unlikely to contribute to strengthening stability and security in the South Caucasus,” Kopirkin noted.
