Zakhrova Comments on Reports of Pentagon Moving Equipment to Armenia
Moscow has requested operational information from Yerevan regarding media reports about the Pentagon moving equipment to Armenia. This was announced by Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The Armenian partners have responded that no official request has been received from Washington. However, if this information is confirmed, it would become a destabilizing factor in the South Caucasus. It could also be an attempt to bring confrontation schemes developed by the collective West into the region,” she said.
Earlier, Russian news agency RT reported that the U.S. Army's logistical command plans to transfer military equipment and various supplies from the German base in Dülmen to the Armenian ‘Zar’ military training ground for possible U.S.-Armenian joint exercises.
According to the published data, the transfer of equipment is scheduled between July 16 and August 7, with a return to Germany expected between August 21 and September 20. It is noted that the equipment will be transported through Georgia, as the transportation route cannot pass through the territories of Russia, Turkey, or Azerbaijan due to complexities in diplomatic permissions.
