If We Withdraw From Claims, We Will Sue the Armenian Authorities: Artak Beglaryan
Despite the latest unilateral concessions by the Armenian authorities to Azerbaijan, I still believe that Aliyev will not sign this document. Aliyev wants everything, including a nonviable Republic of Armenia and a continued policy of anti-Armenianism, without assuming any obligations. So far, Aliyev has received numerous serious concessions (including Artsakh) without giving anything in return. This was stated by Artak Beglaryan, the former Ombudsman of the Republic of Artsakh and former Prime Minister, on his Facebook page.
“The danger is great that soon the authorities will make concessions even on issues for which the signing of an agreement has been presented as a prerequisite (withdrawal from international claims, dissolution of the Minsk Group, etc.). Therefore, I warn the Armenian authorities, and especially the chief decision-maker Nikol Pashinyan, that if we withdraw from our claims in international forums, many Armenians, including myself, will sue the Armenian authorities in those same international forums for violating our rights. Moreover, we must do everything possible to ensure that each official bears individual responsibility for human rights violations carried out under the name of the 'state', which will, in addition, be recorded in domestic and ECHR court decisions.
Yes, we need peace, but the proposed agreement cannot bring peace and justice as it does not take into account many vital issues of the conflict and the real rights and interests of all parties. Peace cannot be achieved at the expense of the fundamental rights, dignity, and overall fate of an entire people, especially when the opposing regime has a genocidal nature and maintains its power on the pillars of racism and genocidal ideology,” he wrote.
