Pashinyan on Agreed Points of Peace Treaty

The negotiations regarding the peace treaty have concluded, and this is a compromise text, similar to what a peace agreement might look like. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a briefing with reporters.

“The negotiations regarding the text of the agreement for establishing peace and inter-state relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have concluded with the approval of the text, which is an important event. One of Baku's two proposals concerned the deployment of third forces along the border, while the other related to withdrawing claims from international platforms and refraining from actions against each other. Regarding the publication of the text, to be honest, we must look at the practices and see what it looks like. There are no secrets from our public in this text, and in fact, each article has been published in one form or another. I do not think it can be said that the public is unaware of its content,” he said.

Regarding the deadlines for signing the agreement, he noted, “We have already confirmed that the text is ready for signature, and we are ready to begin discussions on the timing and location of the signing. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has issued a statement that they are prepared to discuss this in a bilateral format. They have their own ideas, and we have ours; I assume that during these discussions we will try to reconcile these visions.”
