No Patient is Left Out of Stroke Prevention Treatment Due to Lack of Funds: Anahit Avanesyan
The acute ischemic stroke is unfortunately one of the most commonly diagnosed conditions in our country. This was stated by Armenia's Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan on her Facebook page.
"In the case of this disease, services are provided within the framework of the state order. Thus, no patient, regardless of their social group, is left without treatment to prevent irreversible effects of the stroke due to lack of funds. The basis for inclusion in the program is the diagnosis of 'acute and/or subacute ischemic stroke' within 0-24 hours from the onset of clinical signs of brain ischemic stroke, including the transfer time. Only in 2024, 789 services have been provided, with a reimbursement of 1.7 billion drams. Since the implementation of this program, 3,573 services have been provided for which 7.4 billion drams have been allocated from the state budget. I consider it very important for this life-saving program to be accessible in the regions as well. Besides the four medical centers in Yerevan, the program also operates in medical institutions in Gyumri and Vanadzor. Our goal is to make this primary service accessible in other regions as well. Such programs are made possible thanks to the taxes paid by all of us," she wrote.
