Iran Appeals to Influential Countries Regarding Syria
Iran has formally appealed to the countries that have influence over the events occurring in Syria, expressing its concerns. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baghaei.
He did not specify which particular countries have been approached. According to the diplomat, Tehran is extremely worried about reports of violence against Alawites, Christians, and other religious minorities, as well as the destabilization of the situation.
“We categorically condemn such actions. Any killing or act against the civilian population is condemnable and unjustifiable,” he stated. He added that those countries that do not wish well for the people of Syria and the entire region are taking advantage of the situation.
