Trump Plans to Expand List of Countries Banned from Entering the U.S.
U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to expand the list of countries whose citizens will be banned from entering the United States, including Afghanistan. This was reported by The New York Times.
Entry into the U.S. is already prohibited for citizens of Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.
On March 5, a working group titled “Travel Ban on Afghanistan” called for those who arrived in the U.S. on expired visas to leave the country immediately. Currently, about 250,000 Afghan citizens are awaiting entry into the U.S., many of whom have already obtained work permits and found jobs and housing in the United States.
It is emphasized that it remains unclear how the inclusion of Afghanistan in the countries' “Red List” will affect Afghan citizens who have obtained Green Cards and those seeking refugee status.
