This is a Proxy War Between the U.S. and Russia: Rubio
The U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that the Ukrainian crisis is a proxy war between the United States and Russia.
“President Trump believes that this is a protracted conflict that has reached a deadlock, and frankly, it is a proxy war between nuclear powers — the U.S., which is helping Ukraine, and Russia,” Rubio said in an interview with Fox News.
“And this conflict needs to come to an end,” he added.
According to the Secretary, allies had previously thought that Kyiv should be given “what it needs, as much as it needs.” Rubio also reminded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “sabotaged” and “disrupted” U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate a ceasefire in the conflict.
