Dairy Products with and without Substitutes to be Sold in Different Colored Shelves
In Armenia, dairy products with substitutes and pure dairy products without them will be sold in different colored shelves. The National Assembly approved the relevant amendments to the 'Trade and Services' law in the second and final reading. This bill has been discussed in various ways for about five years.
Pure dairy products, without the addition of dairy fat substitutes and non-dairy ingredients, must be sold in green shelves, while those with dairy fat substitutes will be displayed in orange shelves. Earlier, there were proposals to extend the green and orange differentiation to packaging as well, but those requirements pertained to product standards, meaning they would need to be coordinated at the level of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The concept of color differentiation has not been approved by the EEC, allowing producers to present packaging in any color.
