Turning School Routine into a Marketplace is Shameful: Andreasyan

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "To be honest, I was thinking about how to address this issue without混淆ing the wet with the dry. However, I consider the problem more important than the potential misunderstandings that I am always ready to clarify. So, let me state it clearly: I am receiving numerous reports from parents whose children are forced by other parents to participate in fundraising activities for various occasions—from March 8th to the last bell.

When I suggest naming a school or providing factual information, they usually refuse, fearing that their children may face issues later because their parent complained; it's shameful. Dear parents, it is shameful to turn school routines into a marketplace. This bourgeois environment, where unnecessary luxury replaces values, only corrupts our children as well as yours.

A child's day will only go well because they are together with their friends, in an environment filled with their feelings and experiences. There is no need for a camera to drone above capturing every moment, or for a camera to be in every corner. Luxury does not add emotion, and the showiness should not be confused with sincerity.

Be there for your children when they need you. There are countless cases where a child has a problem, and the school cannot even involve the parent; indifference and neglecting one’s own children's issues cannot be replaced by the external shine of festive days. If any fundraising is encouraged or incited by the institution, please write to me immediately, indicating the school number.”
