Zelensky Talks to Macron and NATO Secretary General
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, as reported by Christopher Miller of the Financial Times, citing a source close to the Ukrainian leader.
The details of their conversation have not been disclosed. The Élysée Palace has confirmed that the conversation between Zelensky and Macron took place, but the content remains unreported.
“Zelensky is currently in contact with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte,” the source told Miller.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the U.S. on February 28. It was expected that a contract regarding the use of Ukrainian land resources would be signed during this visit.
According to BFM TV, U.S. President Donald Trump wanted to cancel Zelensky's visit, but Emmanuel Macron intervened and urged Trump not to cancel the meeting.
Zelensky and Trump held talks at the White House, during which the leaders argued about the Russia-Ukraine war. As a result, Trump stated that Zelensky was “not ready for peace,” and the Ukrainian leader left the White House.
The signing of the natural resources agreement has been canceled.
