Tesla Launches Autopilot in China

According to Bloomberg, American Tesla Corporation will launch its autopilot system in China in the coming days. Sources from the agency indicate that Tesla will soon release its Full Self-Driving (FSD) complete autonomous driving service in China. Electric vehicle owners will have the opportunity to use FSD on public roads.

Although Tesla calls its service an autopilot, the driver must keep their hands on the wheel and be ready to take control at any moment while the system is operating. The package for accessing the autopilot service costs 64,000 yuan or about 9,000 dollars.

According to a company source, Tesla has already prepared marketing materials detailing that FSD is capable of making autonomous turns, changing lanes, and responding to traffic signal indications.

It has been noted that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long wanted to launch the autopilot service in China to make his electric cars more appealing compared to the local automotive industry. Sources assure that the approval of the Chinese authorities is necessary before the FSD system can be launched. It is likely that Musk’s company has already obtained such permission.
