Zelensky to Visit White House for New Deal
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Washington hopes to reach an agreement with Moscow and Kyiv to cease military operations in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit the White House on Friday to sign a long-awaited mineral deal that will closely link the two countries for many years.
According to the Associated Press, Trump made this announcement at the beginning of his second term cabinet's first meeting, calling the deal a "very important agreement." Trump has framed the upcoming deal, which will allow the U.S. access to rare earth mineral deposits in Ukraine, as an opportunity to compensate for U.S. military aid directed towards Kyiv during Democrat President Joe Biden's administration.
