Two Points of the Document Remain Unagreed: Nikol Pashinyan

“We have proposed a solution to the issue, and we hope that Azerbaijan will respond positively to it,” stated Nikol Pashinyan in the parliament, commenting on the process of normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.

He mentioned that the discussions involve rail freight transport with honey. According to him, the Peace Treaty does not address issues regarding constitutional amendments and the corridor.

“We have analyzed our negotiation history and found a formula that addresses the concerns raised by both sides. I am confident that the solution we proposed will be 100 percent acceptable for the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan declared.

In response to a remark that Pashinyan had previously said the same about Karabakh, he stated: “At the time, when I was saying that there should be a solution acceptable to the people of Armenia, the people of Karabakh, and the people of Azerbaijan, I was presenting a theoretical thesis that required practical implementation, and that practical formula was not found. In this case, what is different is that a practical formula has been found.”

He noted that the two unagreed points of the document concern the deployment of third-country forces along the border and the legal and other diplomatic disputes in international venues. The Peace Treaty does not address issues regarding constitutional amendments and the corridor.”

He emphasized that the two points of the document remain unagreed, specifically regarding the Constitution and the “corridor,” and that agreement had not been reached, including on the issue of observers at the border.
