Hamas Announces New Agreement

The Hamas movement has reported reaching a new agreement during negotiations in Egypt regarding the fate of imprisoned Palestinians, who were not released from Israeli jails on Saturday.

According to Hamas, under the agreement reached on Tuesday, Palestinian prisoners who were scheduled to be released by Israel over the past weekend will, in fact, be freed.

“Their return has been agreed upon in the first phase, in addition to an appropriate number of Palestinian women and children,” the movement's statement said. The prisoners were to be released in exchange for the bodies of Israeli captives.
