Will the US Remove Canada from the 'Five Eyes' Intelligence Network?
US presidential trade advisor Peter Navarro has suggested excluding Canada from the 'Five Eyes' intelligence alliance, reports the Financial Times (FT), citing sources within the presidential administration. The intelligence data exchange network also includes the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
It remains unclear whether US President Donald Trump favored this idea, the publication notes. Navarro himself stated after the FT report that he did not advocate for this 'crazy' idea, according to the outlet. 'We will never jeopardize our national security... with allies like Canada,' the advisor said.
