Dust Storm and Wind Intensification Expected

According to the data from the Ministry of Environment’s Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, wind intensification with speeds of 17-20 m/s is currently observed in several regions of the republic, including Syunik, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, and Aragatsotn, which is causing dust storms in some areas. This was reported by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

“It is expected that the wind intensification will continue until the evening hours of February 27,” the report states.

The emergency response teams of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service and the police are conducting round-the-clock enhanced services to monitor road conditions and ensure citizen safety. The rescue workers are patrolling problematic sections of the roads to ensure a quick response to all emergencies, ready to provide assistance at any moment.

If necessary, they are also carrying out the removal and towing of blocked vehicles and transporting citizens to safe areas.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds the public to drive exclusively with winter tires and to remain vigilant. Stay informed through official sources regarding weather changes and road conditions. Safety is everyone's responsibility; maintain vigilance and follow safety regulations,” the statement adds.
