UN General Assembly Adopts Second Resolution on Ukraine

The UN General Assembly adopted two resolutions regarding the Russia-Ukraine war during its meeting on February 24. This was reported by Meduza, citing a UN statement.

Initially, the General Assembly approved a resolution prepared by EU countries and Ukraine. Titled "Promoting a Comprehensive, Just, and Lasting Peace in Ukraine," the document calls for de-escalation, an immediate cessation of hostilities, and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. A total of 93 countries voted in favor, 18 against, and 65 abstained.

Later, the General Assembly also voted in favor of the "Path to Peace" resolution, which was prepared by the United States. According to TASS, the US resolution was modified by European nations, specifically replacing the phrase "conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine" with "full-scale invasion by Russia." The draft was supported by 92 countries, while eight opposed it, including Russia, and 73 abstained, including the United States.
