Zelensky Makes Statement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced during a press conference that he is prepared to leave his position in exchange for peace in Ukraine or NATO membership.
"If you truly need me to resign for the sake of Ukraine's peace, I am ready. I can exchange it for NATO membership if such conditions arise immediately," the president stated, according to RIA Novosti.
In recent days, U.S. President Donald Trump has made a series of scathing remarks about Zelensky. He described him as a dictator and accused him of refusing to hold elections. In Trump's view, Zelensky is looking to continue military operations to maintain his position of power.
Zelensky's term ended on May 20 of last year. The presidential elections in Ukraine for 2024 have been canceled due to martial law and general mobilization. Zelensky stated that the time for voting is not right.
