Either Submit a Report or Resign: Elon Musk

Federal employees in the United States must submit a report on their work completed during the week or resign, American entrepreneur and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, announced on his page on the social media platform X.

“In accordance with President Donald Trump's directives, all federal employees will soon receive a letter requesting a report on their work done last week. If this is not done, it will be considered a resignation,” Musk wrote.

Hours later, Musk noted that many public employees have already sent back “good” responses to these letters, emphasizing that these are the individuals who should be considered for promotions.

Musk had previously stated that Trump’s administration is cutting public sector jobs in an effort to transition individuals into the private sector. The New York Times also reported that the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has directed federal agencies across the country to terminate a significant number of employees under probation.

Trump had earlier announced that Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy would lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), intended for “reducing wasteful spending and restructuring federal agencies.” Subsequently, Ramaswamy announced his resignation from the leadership of DOGE.
