Changes in Facebook Live Streaming Rules
Meta has made changes to the preservation policy for user live streams on the Facebook platform. Now, these streams will be removed 30 days after posting. Henceforth, users must download their live broadcasts to prevent them from being lost after the 30-day period.
As an alternative, the company suggests posting the video on your profile as Reels, although to do this, you will need to adapt the recordings to the format restrictions, which only allow for 90 seconds.
Meta explained the changes by stating that "the majority of views on live streams occur within the first few weeks of posting," as well as to "align the preservation policy with industry standards and ensure the most up-to-date live broadcasts are available to all Facebook users." It is reported that all live streams posted more than 30 days ago will also be removed.
Users will be notified via email and app notification prior to the permanent deletion of their archives. Following the notification, they will have 90 days to download or transfer the video.
Facebook has also offered users several tools for downloading videos individually or in bulk, such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
