No Decision to Send Troops to Ukraine: EU

EU leaders have decided during an online summit not to send troops to Ukraine. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda announced that it is necessary to determine under what conditions and when such a deployment could occur.

“The presence of instructors in Ukraine has already been discussed, and the response to this issue has been positive. However, a decision to send troops for broader actions has not yet been made,” said Nausėda during a press conference broadcast on the LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television) portal.

According to him, Lithuanian authorities are also consulting with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense on this matter. However, it is essential to first answer the question of under what circumstances and at what stage these peacekeepers could be present in Ukraine, and only after that can a decision be made.

The Lithuanian president emphasized that this issue was discussed at the summit, but there are many different formats possible for the deployment of EU troops in Ukraine.
