City Hall Responds to Incident of Elderly Man Being Forcefully Removed from Bus
A few days ago, an incident occurred on a bus when the driver forcefully asked an elderly man to exit, as he was traveling without a fare. There was a presumption that the elderly man had a second-degree disability and could travel for free, yet he had not received his entitlement, possibly due to lack of awareness or unfamiliarity with the procedure. This was reported by Armen Galjyan, the leader of the KiP faction in the Yerevan City Council.
"We found this man, and after confirming his disability status, we provided him with an annual free pass that allows unlimited access to the bus, metro, and trolleybus services. Thanks to the head of the Erebuni administrative district, Hakob Balayan, for resolving this issue promptly and appropriately. Fellow citizens, the drivers of 'Yerevan Bus' LLC are obliged to ensure that passengers pay their fares in accordance with the rules established by law. To avoid such incidents, we request you follow the provisions of the Yerevan City Council's decisions. Despite all this, I would like to add that the driver has received a reprimand for violating the norms of civility," he wrote.
