Changes to Employment Contracts

The Head of the Labor and Employment Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Zhora Sargsyan, announced that starting January 1, 2026, all employment contracts in Armenia must be signed electronically. He reminded that this legislative change was adopted in December 2024 in the National Assembly. Accordingly, from July 1 of this year, the requirement to sign employment contracts electronically will be applied on a voluntary basis, and from the following year, it will become mandatory.

“There will be a portal on the website of the State Revenue Committee, where employers will log in. They will fill out the mandatory fields of the employment contract. Additionally, the employer can add extra conditions to the contract with the agreement of the employee if deemed necessary. The employer and the employee can decide to add this information on the platform or through separate agreements,” Sargsyan said.

According to Sargsyan, once the employer fills out all the mandatory fields, they must apply an electronic signature (the employer can authorize another person to sign on their behalf). The prospective employee will receive a notification at their electronic address that a contract has been created.

“For the prospective employee, all of this happens on the 'I Am' platform. By logging into the platform, the employee can see the contract created for them, and if they agree, they can add their electronic signature,” Sargsyan clarified. Changes to the contract will also be possible on the platform. The order for termination of employment will also be issued on that platform.
