BBC Headquarters in London Attacked: Walls Painted with Red Paint, Windows Broken
Pro-Palestinian activists have painted the walls of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) headquarters in London with red paint and broken the windows. This action accuses the BBC of complicity in the genocide of Palestinians, according to a press release posted on the Palestine Action website.
'Today, Palestine Action activists targeted the BBC's Portland Place central office in London, covering the building in blood-like red paint and smashing the windows as a sign of the BBC's ongoing complicity in the genocide of Palestine,' the statement reads.
Palestine Action states that the red paint symbolizes 'the corporation's responsibility for the bloodshed in Gaza.' Campaign participants argue that the BBC is complicit in 'whitewashing Israeli atrocities' through biased reporting. They accuse the company of downplaying 'Israeli violence against Palestinians' and failing to provide a platform for 'Palestinian voices,' as mentioned in the release.
It is noted that this was Palestine Action's second action against the BBC. By the end of 2023, the BBC faced a barrage of criticism amid allegations of bias concerning its coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Al Jazeera reports that journalists for the British broadcaster have accused it of double standards, stating that greater attention has been given to Israeli casualties. The BBC has denied all allegations.
