Zelensky Rejects Agreement Proposed by the U.S.: WP
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has refused to sign an agreement that would grant the United States rights to 50% of Ukraine's mineral resources. This was reported by Josh Rogin, a columnist for The Washington Post (WP), on X.
“Several legislators here in Munich told me that the U.S. congressional delegation handed Zelensky a document that, if signed, would give the U.S. rights to 50% of Ukraine’s mineral resources. Zelensky politely declined to sign it,” the journalist stated.
Earlier, following a meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen, Zelensky mentioned that Kyiv had received a draft agreement from Washington concerning the use of Ukrainian rare earth metals. This topic was also discussed by Zelensky during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump. Zelensky indicated that the results of negotiations on this matter could be documented at the Munich Conference scheduled for February 14-16.
