How the Meeting Between Pashinyan and the U.S. Vice President Took Place

Initially, no meetings were scheduled at the White House, and yes, I did meet with the U.S. Vice President. It was the last event on the last day of my visit. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session with the Parliament-Government, responding to a question from MP Sona Ghazaryan of the ruling party.

"During my visit, I attended an event for a national breakfast prayer and participated in a summit on religious freedom. During this time, the idea emerged, and the meeting was organized unexpectedly. It took place in a 1+3 format, meaning it wasn’t a one-on-one conversation. The members of our delegation who participated in the meeting included our ambassador to the U.S., the head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Government Staff, and my press secretary. A detailed and thorough conversation took place, especially in a rather mixed environment for them. We highly appreciate that under these conditions, there was mutual interest in holding such a meeting, and it occurred. I consider it very important and very effective. The mutual interest in the meeting indicates that there is dynamics in our relations, and that dynamics must be maintained and developed.

I want us not to fall into extremes of negativity, nor into extremes of positivity; we should view it as a job that is being done and that must be continued in a better and more consistent manner," said the Prime Minister.

It is recalled that in Washington, at the White House, Nikol Pashinyan met with U.S. Vice President James David Vance. During the meeting, issues related to Armenia-U.S. bilateral relations and the regional agenda were discussed.
