I Have 74 Million in Income, But 42 Million Is a Mortgage Debt: Grigoryan

A person reads the title of the article: “The Deputy Mayor Living in Someone Else's House and His Annual Income of 74 Million,” and often does not open the article to see that out of that 74 million, 42 million is a mortgage debt, meaning it's a liability, not an income. This was stated today, February 11, by Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan during a discussion with journalists at the Yerevan City Hall, referring to an article published in one of the media outlets about him.

“My wife and I currently have a loan that we service every month. This means it is not income; it is a debt. As for living in someone else's house, it gives the impression that I am living in someone else's home against their will or in unknown circumstances. The actual situation is that I am not currently living at my registered address. In fact, this is a rental arrangement, for which the appropriate tax is being paid. However, there will undoubtedly be people who will say, ‘This is the deputy mayor who has an annual income of 74 million and lives in someone else's home; evidently, he has secretly moved in.’ What can I say?” he added, noting that all the income he receives is fully reflected in his annual declaration.
