I Dreamed About It: Lukashenko
The presidential elections held on January 26 in Belarus were calm and peaceful, indicating that the authorities have taken into account previous mistakes. This was stated by the state leader Alexander Lukashenko, according to TASS.
“The last elections demonstrate that we have drawn conclusions from our mistakes... We have done a good job correcting our errors,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, the elections were a significant achievement: “We conducted the elections in a way that no one else has done. I dreamed about this; it happened—calmly, peacefully. People came and pleasantly surprised everyone who came to follow the elections.”
Previously, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Igor Karpenko, announced that the incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko won the presidential elections, receiving 86.82% of the votes. He has been leading the country since 1994.
