Catholicos Aram I Sends Letter to Trump

The Catholicos of Great Cilicia, His Holiness Aram I, has sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to take action for the release of Armenian prisoners illegally held in Azerbaijan. Aram I congratulated Trump on the occasion of his inauguration and noted his commitment to global peace.

He referenced Trump's previous statements condemning the ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and his support for Armenians returning to their homeland. The Catholicos called on Trump to intervene and ensure the immediate and unconditional release of Armenian prisoners, including former leaders of Artsakh who are subjected to closed trials in Baku without adherence to legal norms and international oversight.

He emphasized that such a step would contribute to regional stability, enhance goodwill, and align with Trump's declared peacekeeping mission. Aram I concluded the letter with hopes of continuing dialogue around these humanitarian urgent issues.
