Our Border With Armenia Is Very Clearly Defined: Mehdi Sobhani
The ongoing border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot impact the Armenia-Iran border. This was stated by Mehdi Sobhani, the Iranian ambassador to Armenia, during a press conference held on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
"Our border with Armenia is very clearly defined. The dialogues taking place between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the clarification of the state border cannot in any way affect the Armenia-Iran border," the ambassador emphasized.
Iran believes that the delimitation process is a new step towards achieving peace in the region. The ambassador highlighted that this process is based on the Alma-Ata Declaration and international regulations.
Tehran is convinced that if the process is carried out in accordance with these principles, it will contribute to the establishment of security and peace.
It is noteworthy that in April 2024, it became known that the state commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to commence the delimitation from the Tavush region (in the sections of Baghanis, Voskepar, Kiranats, and Berkaber).
