Workers Absent from Work: Situation at Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine

The head of the public relations department of Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, Arayik Margaryan, told Auroranews that the company's production cycle has been disrupted for the sixth day due to illegal actions by approximately 150 employees.

"The company’s employees have not reported to work, have not fulfilled their job duties, blocked and shut down some infrastructure, and are demanding unrealistic wage increases, which has sabotaged the work process in the company. As a result of these actions, the company and the remaining employees are suffering significant material losses. The company has begun to exercise its rights to hold those who violate labor obligations accountable, in accordance with the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia," he stated.

Both the company and the trade union do not consider these actions a strike, as all legal principles and requirements for declaring a lawful strike have been violated. The Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine ensures its normal production operations by managing hazardous industrial facilities, and obstructing proper management can lead to severe consequences. Therefore, we demand refraining from such unlawful conduct and not endangering people's lives, health, and the safety of the environment," the statement added.
