This Factor Will Bring Stability and Peace to Our Country – Pashinyan

I would like to draw the attention of this audience to a very important topic, which is democracy. It is crucial to emphasize that Armenia is currently a developing democracy. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at the Atlantic Council.

He specifically noted, “This is very important, and the international community acknowledges this fact. I believe that this factor, referring to democracy, has a significant impact on our foreign policy because when a country is democratic, it will obviously seek to deepen cooperation with all other democratic countries, and we hope that this aspiration will be mutual. In fact, we see and appreciate this.”

“We will continue the agenda of democratic reforms. Of course, as everywhere, democracy brings challenges, but it also opens up opportunities, and we are trying to manage all the challenges, including internal ones, and to take advantage of all the opportunities to develop our country, keeping the security agenda at the forefront. However, as the most important continuation of security, we see prosperity and happiness, freedom, protection of human rights, an independent judiciary, and, overall, the success of our citizens. We want them to feel that democracy is truly a factor capable of ensuring security, prosperity, and more and more opportunities for all citizens and everyone living in Armenia.”

“We hope that as a result of these reforms, Armenia will become a more attractive country for investment, living, and visiting. This is our policy that we are trying to promote. Of course, we feel that Armenia's visibility as a democratic country is growing, which is very encouraging, but on the other hand, we certainly hope to ensure greater visibility, receive more support from our international partners, and make the democratic achievements of Armenia, along with the stories of challenges and security threats, more visible to the international community, which I believe can and will be a factor for stability and peace in our country and the region.”
