Russia Ready to Negotiate with Him, Peskov

Despite the fact that Vladimir Zelensky is not the legitimate president of Ukraine, Russia is ready to negotiate with him. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, according to TASS.

Yesterday, Zelensky announced that he is ready to negotiate with Putin, “if this is the only option to achieve peace.” Peskov emphasized that Zelensky's statements about his willingness to negotiate with Russia can only be perceived as empty words, given that he has signed a document prohibiting negotiations with Putin.

“Readiness must be based on something; it cannot be based on a legislative ban on such negotiations for Zelensky. Therefore, this cannot yet be regarded as anything other than empty words,” said the Kremlin representative.

It is noteworthy that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had stated he is prepared to sit at the negotiating table with Russian President Vladimir Putin if this is the only option to establish peace for Ukrainians. He made this statement during an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

“If this is the only option through which we can achieve peace for Ukrainians and not lose people, of course, we will go for it,” said the Ukrainian president.

Zelensky also noted that in this case, his personal feelings toward the head of the Russian Federation do not matter: “I consider him an enemy and, to be honest, I think he considers me an enemy as well.” The state leader also mentioned that Ukraine cannot currently reclaim all its territories and “cannot lose millions of people for a result that may not come.” He added that it is also impossible to violate the Constitution and recognize the occupied territories as Russian.
