"I Don't Understand What the Reason is for the Fight Against Cocaine": Colombian President

Cocaine is banned because it is produced in Latin America, not because it is worse than whiskey. This was stated by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, as reported by Semana magazine.

Specifically, Petro expressed discontent, stating he does not understand the reasons behind the fight against this type of drug. According to him, alcohol, tobacco, and electronic cigarettes are more dangerous than cocaine. If its consumption were legalized, he continued, Latin American countries could spend that money on their own development.

The Colombian leader's choice between cocaine and whiskey has sparked a storm of criticism and ignited a debate in the country about the idea of drug legalization.

It should be noted that on January 27, Colombia agreed to accept flights carrying migrants deported from the United States. The country’s authorities agreed to this step after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on Bogotá due to its reluctance to accept refugees.
