Dual Citizens Drivers Fined in Armenia

Dual Citizens Drivers Fined in Armenia

Citizens of Georgia with dual citizenship who hold Georgian driving licenses are being fined in Armenia. This issue has been repeatedly raised by the Armenian community in Georgia, who have reached out to ‘Aliq Media’ for help.

The problem was also highlighted by Garni Danielyan, a member of the opposition ‘Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly of Armenia. The MP noted on Facebook that ethnic Armenians from Javakheti, who are dual citizens but travel with a Georgian passport and driver's license, are facing mass fines.

Danielyan mentioned that many Javakheti Armenians have acquired dual citizenship in recent years, but they enter Armenia using Georgian passports and driving licenses. The Patrol Service of Armenia fines them in such cases based on the existing legislative requirements.
