It Is Impossible to Return to the 100 Dram System, Says Avinyan

The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, expressed his gratitude to the citizens for supporting the city's policies in the transport sector. He stated, “The transition to a unified ticketing system was a complicated journey, and we have gone through quite challenging phases. I am genuinely pleased that we are all on the same page, understanding what is happening and why.”

Avinyan emphasized that the implementation of the unified ticketing system aims primarily to ensure quality transport in Yerevan. He also thanked drivers for their patience, saying, “I believe this process is crucial in terms of change. Different political forces have their objectives, and in my assessment, the main goal is not the issue of price, but there has been an overall attempt to push the system towards collapse, which has absolutely failed. It is impossible to return to the 100 dram system.” He added, “We had a transport system operating under the 100 dram system for about 30 years and witnessed its quality.”

He noted that the “various political shows” should come to an end, suggesting that they should conclude in a calm, restrained manner with maximum respect towards political opponents, explaining and conveying the situation clearly.
