Trump Administration Dismisses 2 Senior Officials at USAID
The Donald Trump administration has dismissed two senior officials from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) security division.
According to the Associated Press, the reason for the dismissal was the refusal to grant access to classified materials to inspection teams from entrepreneur Elon Musk. The senior officials at USAID, John Vorhies and his deputy Brian McGill, were legally required not to provide access to classified materials, as members of Musk's nonprofit organization DOGE ("Government Effectiveness Administration," which is not an actual department of the U.S. government) did not have the necessary clearance for accessing classified information.
