Which Countries Will the US Raise Tariffs On
Mariam Z.
Washington will raise tariffs on goods imported from Mexico, Canada, and China today. This was announced by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt the day before, noting that the tariff rate will be 25% for Canada and Mexico, and 10% for China.
The White House asserts that this action is being taken because these three countries are not taking sufficient steps to prevent the importation of fentanyl drugs into the United States.
According to American media reports, the new tariffs could take effect as early as today.
